WE HAVE A VENUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In the end, it really wasn't that hard of a choice. The more we thought about it, the less we could imagine having the wedding anywhere but Catalina.
We had a great experience with the coordinator when we went to visit in September and loved what we saw. But the thing that really sold us is how amazingly unique our wedding would be there. It is the foundation for the kind of wedding that we and our guests will never forget.
Since I've already given you guys an intro to Catalina, I'm going to keep it simple and get on with the gratuitous photos :).
When you get off the boat, you walk into this:

As our guests continue toward the ceremony, they'll catch a glimpse the Banning House, the hotel where we will be married.

So, it only took us about 10 months to find a venue. How long did it take you? How did you know you'd found "the one?"
Beautiful! I finally get to go to Catalina now! Does this mean you have a date reserved as well?
ReplyDeleteWe were pretty lucky with our venue. Andrew mentioned it to me so we stopped by one day to take a look. We then re-visited in September, about a year before we got married, to see what the weather/lighting would be like. Finding the reception site was much harder, though, and I know I used a wedding-helper site that listed all vendors in the Bay Area, which is how I found he Sailboat House. I think I booked this maybe nine months in advance. I do kind of wish we had found a place that was more significant to our relationship, but both sites were beautiful and now we have two places that will be meaningful to us forever.
